| | THIS UPDATE IS SPONSORED BY | ____________________ SPOTLIGHT ON Lord Oxford Brings You the Second American Revolution by Christopher Borg
You will see the work of several past IT Award nominees in Brooklyn at the venerable Brick Theater, as they present Lord Oxford Brings You the Second American Revolution, Live! being
the necessary and appropriate response to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth
II's suppression of the freedoms and dignity of the European-American
settlers and their descendants in the Royal Eastern American Colonies
and the inordinate conferring of special favours and privileges on the
merciless Indian savages and the former Negro slaves, in the year Two
Thousand and Eight, a bouffon-inspired, satire-laced political fantasia. Written
by Robert Honeywell, Directed by Moira Stone, the play imagines an
America that lost the Revolutionary war and is under the thumb of the
British empire. At a "live taping" of The Lord Oxford Hour, faithful
orphan sidekick Patty O'Pattycake and a merry band of actors distract
the Colonials from their worries through songs, skits and tableaux. Described
as Democracy in America meets Alice in Wonderland meets Cabaret,
Honeywell brings back many of his actor/collaborators from the 2007 IT
Award-Nominated Greed: A Musical Love $tory ("Outstanding Production of
a Musical"). The cast, which features many past IT Award nominees
includes: Gyda Arber, Lynn Berg, Audrey Crabtree, Rasheed Hinds, Robert
Honeywell, Iracel Rivero and Alyssa Simon and the design team includes:
Robert Eggers (IT Award Nominee), Fab Shim (costumes), Mick O'Brien
(sound) and Bessie Award- winner Joe Levasseur (lighting). Performances
are from October 23 through November 22, Thursday - Saturday at 8 PM at
The Brick (575 Metropolitan Avenue, Williamsburg, Brooklyn). And there
is an Election Night Special Performance on Tuesday, November 4 at 8
PM, followed by watching the election returns at The Brick (and free
beer). For tickets visit TheaterMania. For more information, visit the Brick's website.
| ______________ The IT Awards staff: they're just like us!
Off-Off-Broadway
is very "eye-eye-eye", as my grandmother would say. She was usually
referring to someone rocking some major bling, but in this case, I mean
that we are Innovative, Independent, and Interactive. The IT Awards
exists based on these three principles.
The
IT Awards all-volunteer staff comes from within the OOB community. We,
too, are creating new art, outside the system, and collaborating
amongst our fellow artists. And you can read all about it on our Staff
Blog!
We
regularly post personal entries and updates on both our Blogspot and
MySpace pages. Those of you who are already familiar and comfortable
with RSS feeds are welcome to subscribe or "follow" us on our either
format.
You can keep up with the IT Awards thrilling new Season Five activities at: Blogspot blog When you're not registering, performing, or judging shows, please stop by the IT Awards Staff Blog! We
would love to read your feedback in the comments sections and are
thrilled with the important exposure our web presence provides
registered shows.
