Julian Elfer: 2009 IT Award for Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role

Christopher Borg

British-born actor, Julian Elfer, might feel right at home playing Guildenstern in T. Schreiber Studio’s current production of Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead Not just because the play is a classic of modern British comedy, but because Elfer recently took home the 2009 IT Award for Outstanding Actor in a Leading Role (for Malvolio in T. Schreiber’s production of Twelfth Night).

Stoppard’s play, a thought-provoking and witty examination of the mysteries of death, destiny and free will, follows the musings of Shakespeare’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, the two doomed friends of Hamlet in their time at Elsinore as the famous tragedy unfolds around them.

As a bonus to IT Award fans, TSS’s production (which has been designed to be performed in the round) includes on the creative team, 2009 IT Award nominees George Allison (set design) and Karen Ann Ledger (costume design)!

The production, directed by Cat Parker, continues at T. Schreiber Studio through November 22nd at the Gloria Maddox Theater.
